It is well known in the thoroughbred industry that mares are fit, healthy and presented at a first class level after their stay on the farm. Vaccinations and wormings along with regular farrier work are all standard practice. Mares are never over crowded while out in paddocks and their movement is kept at a safe pace with no motorbikes used on the farm for the movement of horses. Two weeks prior to the time for foaling down, mares are brought into a large pre foaling paddock that is in sight for everyone one the farm. All mares tails are trimmed to help keep the area clean and alarms are attached as a secondary backup. All mares are fed on the PRYDES EASI FEED products. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Foaling All our staff are fully trained and highly competent. Jann Harris is our primary foaling attendant and over the last few years has furthered her education in this skill, by attending the Shepperton Veterinary Clinic's 3 day seminar which is recognized by all major studs as an important educational tool in learning any new developments in the care for the new foal. An average of 70 mares are foaled at Tooloogan Vale each season with 2005 being a perfect year for foaling mares. All mares are monitored 24 hours a day and foals are under the general care of Jann for 5 days post foaling where all subtle changes in health can be quickly noted. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Weaning Weaning usually commences from the age of 6-7 months. This is a two week course that enables the foal to become cooperative and introduces them to leading and physical touch. Stress levels are kept to a minimum with the foals gradually weaned from their mothers and education being kept to a constant routine. All foals that go thru the ToolooganVale weaning process are well educated and easy to handle. All weanlings are brought back into boxes for a week mid way through the year where they are given a small refresher course that includes small amounts of time on our walking machine. This extra week has been a success for us and has allowed us to produce well educated yearlings. All foals and yearlings are fed on PRYDES EASI FEED ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sales Preparation Tooloogan Vale prepares yearlings, weanlings and mares for all major sales on Australia's East Coast. With draft numbers increasing yearly the standard of our preparations is enviable and we have gained a reputation of producing athletic horses who are well educated and commercially saleable. The new walking machine recently installed allows us to offer a more refined preparation to produce a greater result in the sales ring. Details: Complete care and attention is necessary to prepare horses for the sale ring. Yearlings are prepared over a 10 week period, while weanlings and mares are prepared over 7-8 weeks. This time allows the horses to adjust gradually to the process of the increased work load and changing conditions. TOOLOOGAN VALE - Upper Dartbrook Road - Scone - 2337 M: 0409 453 312 - P: (02) 65453312 * Conditions Relating to Visiting Mares for Agistment * To Tooloogan Vale Broodmare FarmI accept that our agreement is as follows: It is my responsibility to ensure that the correct identification papers accompany the mare on delivery to Tooloogan Vale. I confirm that the mare is free of any contagious disease and is in normal breeding condition. Tooloogan Vale accepts no responsibility for any accident, death, disease or injury to my horse while on Tooloogan Vale property. Tooloogan Vale representatives are hereby authorised to engage a veterinary surgeon at my expense to perform any service as they consider necessary and reasonable. While the mare is at Tooloogan Vale I shall pay agistment accounts within 14 days of receipt. If I wish to remove my horse from Tooloogan Vale at any time I shall pay all costs including the balance of any agistment fees prior to and as a condition precedent to such removal. Tooloogan Vale may retain my horse and any foal until all accounts are paid in full. During any such retention period Tooloogan Vale may charge agistment, veterinary, farrier and other fees and charges. If any agistment accounts or any other debt is outstanding by me or us for a period of more than 60 days then I/we acknowledge that the owners of Tooloogan Vale are hereby authorised and are hereby granted a Power of Attorney to effect the sale of my horse and or foal to pay any amount that may be owing to Tooloogan Vale. I/we grant a full Power of Attorney to Tooloogan Vale the effect such sale and as such appointment of the Power of Attorney is irrevocable until all monies have been paid to Tooloogan Vale. In case of sale funds after the sale of any such horse or foal and deduction of debts owed to Tooloogan Vale is to be sent directly to me/us. I accept your terms for agistment.
